Park Home Living – My take (Resident Park Manager, Shane)

Meet Shane O Hara, our resident park manager in our newest park – Cranbourne Hall in Windsor.

Shane has been living in the park for almost 17 years now. He moved from Bracknell, just down the road and started work as a maintenance assistant in the park. About 8 years back he transitioned to a park manager & has been looking after the park & the residents since.

I live alone & my lovely daughter visits me on weekends. But I have actually never ever felt alone in the park. Everybody knows everybody & I actually mean it.

In these last few months of lockdown it hasn’t been lonely because we all know each other & there is always someone to talk to all the time.

The Squirrels pub (right outside the entrance of the park) literally was like the community hub of the park. Many residents visit the pub often. It has now closed & we are hoping for it to be reopened very soon.

The whole park is quite a happy place! We have a convenience shop in the park which is quite handy.

The nearest Tesco is about 3 miles & the Ascot train station is less than 1.5 miles from the park.

The Windsor great park is literally across the road & very popular for walks & picnics among our residents. We are very close to the M4, the M3 & have easy access to the river Thames.

Our site fees are quite economical at about £190 per month. Council Tax is about £80 per month. The utilities which include gas, water & electric come to about £100 per month (of course these depend on the size of the home & usage etc.). So all in all, it is about £370 monthly outgoings.

It is a beautiful part of the world to live in & there are so many places to visit & frequent. Our park has about 3 garden centres in close proximity!

We are doing development in the park & have homes coming soon. You can also choose a plot & we can site a bespoke home of your choice to the park.

Thank you Shane for sharing your story with us & it is great to have you look after the park & residents so well.

Cranbourne Hall Park

Crowned by stunning Windsor Castle – the largest and oldest inhabited castle in the world and the Queen’s favourite weekend home – and linked by the beautiful River Thames, the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead has a rich mix of history, culture, heritage and fun which makes it one of South East England’s loveliest short break destinations and a ‘must-see’ for everyone’s list.

Close to Heathrow and less than an hour by public transport to the capital it is the perfect place to enjoy the city and the countryside!

Witness the colourful and very ‘British’ spectacle of the guards marching through the streets of Windsor for the Changing the Guard ceremony within Windsor Castle’s walls; it’s a unique sight not to be missed!

If you are looking for a family day out with the children or grandchildren and theme parks are your thing then you will love visiting LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort, situated less than 2 miles from the park.

Enjoy a flutter on the horses at world-famous Ascot Racecourse, home of Royal Ascot each June, or Royal Windsor Racecourse, popular for its Monday evening meetings and themed race days.
We have a beautiful Middleton home coming to this park very soon. We also have a choice of plots available to choose from.
