Met by chance, loved by choice

Please meet David Shearer and Victoria Symmonds. They met in Beckenham residential park, married and live in the park now.

I have lived in the park for more than 34 years now. I moved from Orpington with my previous wife who really wanted to live in a residential park estate.

Unfortunately, we parted ways but I continued to live in the home. It is quiet and peaceful and I would advise everyone to try it. This area is great, there are lots of things to do around and amenities are quite close by as well.

I cannot imagine anyone not liking this lifestyle. I would say that it isn’t for young people with small children but then again, these parks are for the over 45’s.
David

Everything happens for a reason. I bought my park home in April 2018 and moved into the home in June 2018. I met David by chance as a friend in the park.

He offered to help me with decorating the home. I didn’t expect him to do that but it was very helpful.

I was born and brought up in Kent but had lived in Spain since 2001. My late husband wanted to live in Spain but sadly after we moved he didn’t have many months there.

My daughter suggested that I need to have a base in England which I thought was important as well

So I visited the park, absolutely loved the lifestyle, and decided to buy a home here. I still have my home in Spain so that the family can use it when visiting.
Victoria

We absolutely love our life in Beckenham residential park. It is a close-knit family and we couldn’t imagine living anywhere else now.

Thank you for sharing your story with us. It was a pleasure meeting you both and we would like to wish you lots of good health and happiness in your life.

After meeting you both, it is so clear that perceptions of what ageing and retirement mean are often wrong.

Many people often fear ageing, yet the reality is later life can be a time of great purpose, fun and meaning.

We firmly believe that everyone deserves Quality Housing as a basic human right.

It directly impacts health, education and social well-being, especially as people age. That is why we are proud to offer residential parks as a genuine, affordable housing option.

Buying a Park Home enables you to achieve quality with economy and deliver more value for your money.

  • You pay the lowest council tax (Band A)
  • They are 12-month fully residential parks with their own postal address – please do not mistake them for holiday parks
  • You save on electricity because they are new builds with a bungalow-style layout which is more energy efficient
  • Park Home estates boast very strong communities which provide a significant ‘social capital’ for their residents
