Q. Why did you choose a park home & this location?
We have friends who have park homes & we realized that they were an excellent option to downsize.
We lived less than 45 minutes away by car and we were very familiar with the area. We were looking ta retiring in this area – while there are some parts which are as beautiful but are a bit remote, Whitland, on the other hand, is a lovely town & the park is located close to amenities, train-station, pubs, shops which can all be accessed by a short walk.
Q. What made you choose Westover Residential Park?
The park is located right at the boundary of Pembrokeshire & Carmarthenshire & has some beautiful towns nearby which we have always frequented.
My husband fell in love with the park as soon as he set foot on it while I took some time. Reason being I was a bit attached to my old home & garden. However, I ultimately understood that it made so much financial sense & also would free up so much of my time to do things I actually enjoy!
I used to live in a huge house – it was a 250 year old cottage with quite a massive garden. So moving into a park home was a bit of an emotional decision for me.
But even though our garden was massive- we didn’t really get to enjoy it. It actually took us a lot of time & energy to just maintain it & that’s why a park home has helped free us so much of our time!
So even though it was a big property & had a massive garden – it was too much work for us.
Q. What home did you choose?
We saw a few homes which were available to view on the park. We ultimately decided on the brand new Willerby Hazlewood which has these lovely, high vaulted ceilings and such a nice layout.
The kitchen, lobby & bedrooms are as big as those of other bungalows. Our park home is actually bigger than most apartments.
Some of our friends who visit us honestly can’t believe how good it looks from the outside & the quality of the fittings & furnishings inside.
Q. How’s life on the park at Westover?
Everyone is so friendly and willing to help each other out and I think I know almost everyone. It is a good place to retire and I have a cup of tea ready for everyone 🙂
Q. How is retired life in the park?
Well it’s actually being on holiday all-day every day!
Sadly, my husband has recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer & we had planned for our yearly trip to India which I have rescheduled.
We are hoping to go next year now. My daughter lives in India and studies & practices Yoga. My son lives nearby.
Carmarthenshire is less than 15-minute drive away and is a great day out! It has a lovely shopping centre with Debenhams and Marks & Spencer’s, quaint boutiques and Banks and restaurants!
Lovely beach towns like Tenby are only 25 minutes by train. The train station is a 10-minute walk from the park and it’s all a level walk, so easy on the legs!
