Our children absolutely love our new Park home and are very frequent visitors and always stay over.
Our son lives in Kirkby in Ashfield which is about 30 mins drive away, our daughter lives 20 mins away at The Bromley in Fiskerton where she runs a pub for her mother in law. We have no pets but plenty of opportunities to watch beautiful and varied wildlife and the constantly changing landscape as the seasons roll over.
We had lived in our previous home for about 3 years; we loved it and thought that was our last move! Err… NO!!
Neil had a hip replacement in Feb 2017 and whilst recovering, he browsed the internet looking at his fishing sites and had this brilliant idea to look at Park Homes, something we had never really discussed. But, Oh boy am I glad he looked!
So whilst looking in the Nottinghamshire area he came upon Radcliffe Park and when he read all about it- he knew instantly that he had found what he always wanted.
The biggest wow moment for him was that the Park had some riverside plots. He had amazing childhood stories about how his brother and he used to fish on the embankment across from where we live now,
He said he would love to live there, right in front of the river. A Dream come true!
We contacted Wyldecrest the very next day inquiring about these plots and wondering whether it would all work out for us.
We booked a visit to came and look, and honestly -I was sold straight away.
The view across the River Trent with the boats going up and down was magical. Neil couldn’t believe that a desire that he expressed years ago was coming true like this.
We put a deposit in to secure our plot, put our house up For Sale which effectively sold within 17 days! It seems everything and everyone was helping us to achieve our dream move.
The next step was to choose our house furnishings and the various elements of our new home.
We went to the Omar factory to choose all the colours of our new Park home, we chose the Accent for its modern design and the French doors and a lovely spacious lounge and a balcony too.
The Accent is a stunning yet affordable contemporary park home, with a light and airy open plan living space which includes a contemporary ‘L’ shaped lounge/dining area, leading into a semi open-plan kitchen
Moving in
On Nov 28th 2017 we finally moved in. We lived with our son for the three months whilst our home was being built and transferred to our preferred river-side plot site.
All of us river-front residents make up a lovely little community and I can say I have made friends for life. There are no speeding cars to or late-evening revellers to deal with.
The Park Manager Keith has been a diamond to us; nothing is too much trouble for him.
Now the best part of living on Radcliffe Park (my husband might say it is fishing! )
For me, the best part of living at Radcliffe Park is that we have a little village within the nearby beautiful village of Radcliffe on Trent, where the amenities are excellent!
The village has a lovely cafe, Costa Coffee, Birds confectioners, a new bar The Atrium, Piano Italian, three great pubs, Doctors, Dentist, vets, solicitors, etc. and there’s always something going on in the village, love it! You name it and the village has got it.
We have a lovely park which is a stone’s throw away which our grandson loves. I can take lovely walks along the cliffs with some breath-taking views and of course our own river and our secret village Radcliffe Park.
I feel so pleased that Neil went looking on the internet that day and found our little bit of paradise.
Since then, Neil has also bought a little boat which he moors here. The fishermen on the park are a good crowd and love swapping stories with him. I would say he is living the dream!
To wrap up my story I would say that I’m glad we made the decision to move into Radcliffe Park. I have found the Wyldecrest Parks staff- friendly and helpful and I just hope that Wyldecrest parks don’t raise the site fees too much over the coming years ?
Well, we hope you enjoyed being part of their journey of finding a retirement park home. We at Wyldecrest are lucky to meet and be able to help all the beautiful people who are setting out on their new adventure in life and who are seeking to find their own slice of heaven on earth!
Let’s hear Gina’s story in her own words –
Radcliffe Park highlights
Radcliffe Park nestles on the banks of the River Trent and has wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. The park has its own wooden jetty where several residents moor their small boats.
The local pub, the Manvers Arms, serves hot and cold food daily and offers a discount to park residents.
In the village, you will find an abundance of local amenities including a doctor’s surgery, dentist, pharmacy and post office, all only a five minute walk away.
Radcliffe Park is located near West Bridgford on the outskirts of Nottingham, close to the National Water Sports Centre and Trent Bridge Cricket Ground. The village has a local active cricket club and is close to some excellent golf courses, notably Cotgrave.
The park boasts of picturesque walks like the Cliff Walk (which takes you along the river to nearby Shelford village). There is also nearby, the Memorial Park which is a recreation ground and skate park, with a complex of sports fields.
There is also a lively amateur dramatics group who stage regular productions at The Grange Hall, as well as numerous other clubs and associations.
