A sky full of stars….retirement at its best

We caught up for a quick chat with our resident Lesley Gold who moved into our Saltmarshe Castle Residential development in beautiful Herefordshire.

Lesley shares her experience of how the journey has been for her. She moved into a bespoke Willerby Hazlewood 44 x 20 park home bungalow.

She is a cherished resident for us and one of the friendliest people in our park. She lives with her sister and her cute dogs who absolutely love the beautiful countryside setting of this park.

I used to live in Berkshire quite close to the Heathrow. Plus I had a lot of traffic outside my home adding to my woes.

It was getting to a point where I was wondering how I would continue living like this.

Some of our friends moved into the countryside and shared how much better it was for them.

I visited them, searched online and came across Saltmarshe Castle Development.

I called to book in a visit and drove down on the Saturday to see Martin for a tour of the park and the homes.

It was beautiful! As soon as I entered the home, I fell in love with it.

It was a bespoke, modern, streamlined bungalow and was just perfect.

I came back and had a long chat with my sister and we decided. I called Martin to ask how to place a deposit to reserve the home and start my next steps.

Moving from a two storey 3 bedroom home meant a significant amount of downsizing.

I got rid of 99% of my furniture and felt that I could still do more!

To be fair it wasn’t a nerve racking experience at all as I actually wanted it.

I recently took one of my dogs to the vet at Bromyard and she said that the dog’s heart had actually improved! Just shows what country air can do.

It is peaceful, it is quiet. The sunrise is magnificent. But – the sunsets are even more glorious!

I love taking pictures and sending them to my friends to share the beauty of these sights.

When I was living in Berkshire, I always wanted to see a sky full of stars – but with the amount of pollution I never ever witnessed that.

While it’s been quite cold since I have moved here, one morning I was up early with my dog and actually saw the spectacular sight which I always wished for – a sky full of stars.

Plus I could hear an Owl hooting nearby – it is difficult to explain in words!

Being part of the loving community in Saltmarshe has been the most amazing aspect of moving here.

I have lovely neighbours and some beautiful friendships have been formed. We swap books when we are done with them

Even if we go out shopping, we always ask each other if they need something.

Even though I don’t know everyone yet – I don’t stop waving and talking especially when I take my dogs out for a walk. It is just incredibly friendly.

Even though I love my company, I love socialising. With the COVID restrictions coming to an end soon, we are hopeful of spending some lovely time together in our community hall.

When I had visited Saltmarshe Castle, Martin had sent me a 3-D video of my new home. I shared this with one of my close friends.

They loved it and came to visit the park and before I know it they have decided to move here as well.

It will be so great to have one of my close friends move so close – I cannot wait for their move to complete

I was working in a consultancy when I moved here and was almost working 15 hours a day. Some days I used to be so tired I couldn’t even walk my dogs.

I then realised that a move to the countryside to just sit in front of the laptop whole day was not what I had wanted in the first place.

So I decided to retire. Some may say it is early but I felt it was the right time for me

I am thoroughly enjoying my retirement and simply loving it : )
