10 years and counting… living in a park home….

Shirkoak Park, Kent
Bethersden Road, Woodchurch, Ashford, Kent TN26 3RP

Shirkoak Park set in rolling countryside, with the added benefit of superb fishing ponds, acres of open walking fields and a designated relaxation area for residents called “The Spinney”. Less than a mile away in Woodchurch village, there are two public houses serving hot and cold food daily. This village has all the local amenities including a post office, farm shop, small general store, garage and a doctor’s surgery.

We caught up with the lovely Tom & Liz Neal for a quick chat about life on the park. They have been on the park for more than 10 years now and also help out on the park as resident managers.

We asked how they came about to choosing & living in a park home. Liz mentioned how her sister lived in a park home (on a different park) and they liked the lifestyle on the park. They looked online for some suitable parks around this area and saw this park come up. Liz said they came for a viewing & liked the home & plot so much that they booked it immediately. They live in a lovely Omar Southdown park home and have two lovely dogs called Pearl & Lenny.

The local area is very nice; we have two fabulous pubs nearby. There is a local older people drop-in centre which organizes a lot of events and has lots of opportunities for meeting local people and friendships and organises regular events. https://carmromneymarsh.org.uk/.

There is Free Parking at the Village Hall and a short walk to the church. The Ashford Town Centre is about 6 miles away and is lovely to spend a few hours! We have a supermarket less than 5 miles. The Ashford International Station is nearby & there is a bus stop right outside the park. Kent is such a beautiful area & it’s known as the garden of England. Our Lovely Park is tucked away in a quiet area but it’s close to everything you would need for living well!

The village green is the hub of the local community where the village come together for regular events and festivities. It is the home to the local football and cricket clubs that use the pavilion on the green. Alongside the green are the Village Memorial Hall, Annexe and tennis courts which can be used by the park residents.

The County town of Ashford is not far away and there is a bus stop at the entrance to the park making it convenient to travel to local villages and markets. In Ashford, there are all the usual superstores and two very good shopping areas, one of which is a purpose-built designer outlet. The International Train Station is situated here with regular trains departing from London to the continent.
