Gypsy millionaire snaps up six Cornwall mobile home parks

A millionaire Romany gypsy has purchased six mobile home parks in Cornwall.

Wyldecrest Parks, owned by Alfie Best, has acquired its first Cornish sites in Bodmin, Camelford, St Austell and Helston.

Mr Best, who owns 41 residential and holiday parks, said: “I’m delighted to be at last moving into Cornwall – it is such a beautiful county and the parks are spectacular.

“We have had a very warm reception from the residents and I hope these purchases are the first of many.”

Essex-based entrepreneur Mr Best, 43, paid an undisclosed fee for the six parks.

He has already employed a new sales area manager and there could be more job opportunities for further staff in the future.

The former amateur boxer’s business is reputedly worth over £100 million. He started his first aged 14, buying and selling vans.

Later he opened a series of mobile phone shops in London before purchasing a small caravan park in Essex, gradually building up the business by acquiring sites across the UK.

His teenage son, also named Alfie, starred in Channel 4’s My Big Fat Gypsy Fortune documentary two years ago.

The newly acquired parks are located in Sticker, Otterham, Dunmere, Bodmin, Helston, and Trelowth.
