COMBATING PLASTIC POLLUTION: A WYLDECREST PARKS INITIATIVE

Wyldecrest Parks’ Earth Day initiative as we lead the fight against single-use plastics for a sustainable future. Discover our eco-friendly strategies and how you can contribute to a plastic-free planet, #PlanetVsPlastic.

Plastic

As we mark Earth Day 2024 and its focus “Planet vs. Plastics”, Wyldecrest Parks is proud to continue our fight against single use plastics.

That’s because our commitment is not just to provide a serene and beautiful living environment but to ensure that our practices reflect a deep respect for the planet. It’s important we take a proactive approach in preserving it for future generations.

WHY FOCUS ON PLASTICS?

Plastic pollution poses a significant threat to wildlife, ecosystems and human health. With over 380 million tons of plastic produced each year, the urgency to address this issue has never been greater.

More than 50% of plastics used as single-use but the convenience of these plastics will impact for the environment for centuries to come, as they break down into polluting micro plastics.

WYLDECREST PARKS’ SUSTAINABLE INITIATIVES

At Wyldecrest Parks, we understand that the battle against plastic pollution requires a considered approach. There are a number of things we do to reduce our environmental impact that you can help with too.

Sustainable Park Home Living

Our park homes are constructed with sustainability at their core, featuring materials that are both durable and environmentally friendly. We’re also continuously exploring the use of recycled and sustainable materials in our home designs, further reducing the ecological footprint of our communities.

Adopt a Circular Lifestyle

Embrace sustainability by choosing reusable and eco-friendly products, such as reusable water bottles, coffee mugs and shopping bags. This approach not only reduces plastic waste but also supports a healthier environment.

Refill and Reuse

Utilise refill stations for detergents and other liquid products to minimise the use of plastic containers. There are more recyclable container options now available for products that allows you to refill at home.

Avoid Single-Use Plastics

Make a conscious effort to refuse disposable plastic cutlery and other single-use items. Carrying a reusable fork, spoon or spork may seem strange but it can be a simple yet effective way to reduce your plastic footprint.

Participate in Cleanups

Engage in community clean-up efforts in local parks, rivers and beaches. This action not only helps remove plastics from our environment but also raises awareness about the issue.

Educate and Advocate

You can also grow awareness about the impacts of plastic pollution and advocate for stronger regulations and corporate responsibility by encouraging others to join the movement for a plastic-free future.

Supporting Plastic-Free Companies

Prioritise partnerships with companies and suppliers who share our commitment to sustainability, focusing on those who use minimal or recyclable packaging.

Tackling the Fast Fashion Menace

Are you aware of the significant environmental impact of the fast fashion industry? We encourage our communities to embrace sustainable fashion choices through activities such as swap shops and partnerships with eco-conscious organisations.

POWER OF COMMUNITY

By bringing everyone together, we magnify the impact of our actions. Through small steps taken within each park, we see big changes happening. By empowering our community, we make a difference that goes beyond our parks.
